Upgrade StorageNew plugin: OpenAlex PDF Finder, open-access PDFs for items without a DOI
Disclosure first: we build Littview, systematic review software. This plugin is free, open source and does not need Littview.
It is for the references Find Available PDF can't fill, mainly items without a DOI or URL (common in Scopus, Web of Science and Ovid exports). Select items, right-click → Find PDF via OpenAlex. It looks each one up in OpenAlex by DOI, then PMID, then arXiv ID, and, only when there is no identifier, by exact title with the year within one. Anything looser is reported, never attached.
Open-access copies only (publisher, PubMed Central, arXiv, repositories). No account or API key. Only the DOIs, PMIDs and titles of the selected items are sent to OpenAlex. Zotero 7 to 10, macOS, Windows, Linux, MIT licence.
Why not DOI Manager plus Find Available PDF? That is two passes, and it still skips items that only have a PMID or an arXiv ID.
