Change in how you can move pdfs out or in to parent item?

I tried today to move a file into a parent item (like I use to do). It didn't work and I discovered the new "Change parent item" in the menu. Is this a willed change in behavior? Surprisingly maybe, but I liked the old way very much. It lets you add a citation with the wand and then move the file into the new citation which lets you see if the wand finds the correct citation. Now I would have to create the parent item, then discover that the downloaded citation was faulty and then use "Change parent item" to remove the file from the parent item. I guess I've become old but this was better in the old versions of Zotero. I dislike using the menus and avoid it when I can.

    Second this.
My use case was for an article which is presented as each page at a different URL. So I stored all pages as their own parent item, then moved all snapshots into one parent item and removed the now empty parent items.

Now I need to find the parent item n times in a dialog window, which is cumbersome. Drag and drop for moving the snapshot was much more intuitive.
  • I suspect this is a bug, not a feature that got removed on purpose (the 'change parent item' option in the menu is needed for accessibility; pretty sure that's intended as a complement, not replacement for drag&drop. )

I also see drag&drop no longer working to move attachments in 10.0.2 on Windows
  • I'm also on Zotero 10.0.2 on Windows 11 if that helps.
  • Yes, looks like a regression in 10.0.2 from a fix for file dragging to File Explorer we had to make after a Mozilla security update. We'll fix — thanks.
