Okay, totally confused. Help please?

Trying to see if Zotero will be useful to help me organize book research. But can't seem to get started. Thought I downloaded it. But now can't figure out how to start uploading documents/weblinks etc...I am fairly tech savvy, so feeling pretty clueless about now.
