Upgrade to 64-bit problems

Hello,

I am having a problem updating Zotero from the 32-bit to the 64-bit version on Windows.

The installation has been stuck for two days at the same point.

The installer shows:

Installing – Please wait while Zotero is being installed.

Even if the folder number is increasing, the progress bar does not move, and the installation appears to be completely frozen.

In the meantime, my previous 32-bit version of Zotero no longer works, so I currently cannot access my Zotero library, and I urgently need to use it for my work.

Could someone please advise me on the safest way to proceed?

In particular, I would like to know:

How can I stop the current installation safely?
Is there anything I should do first to make sure that my database and PDF attachments are preserved?

I would be very grateful for any advice, as I need to get Zotero working again as soon as possible.

Thank you!
  • Cancel the installation, restart your computer, delete C:\Program Files (x86)\Zotero and C:\Program Files\Zotero, and then try the installation again. Your data won't be affected.
