Upgrade StorageNewspaper and magazine titles vs. automatic MEDLINE abbreviations
With AMA 11th Edition and “Use MEDLINE journal abbreviations” enabled, a Zotero item entered as Newspaper Article with Publication = “North Country Public Radio” renders the publication as “North Ctry Public Radio.” Disabling MEDLINE abbreviations prevents this, but also disables automatic MEDLINE abbreviation of actual scholarly journal titles. Newspaper Article has no Journal Abbr field, so there appears to be no per-item override.
This is frustrating because this isn't some exotic use case scenario, this is very standard citation stuff. I do not want to uncheck MEDLINE and then have to manually fix or add any wrong or missing abbreviations (they are often pulled in wrong). Either answer - to manually fix the title at the end in the bibliography, or manually look up journal abbreviations with each journal entry because I had to turn MEDLINE off, is just so... upsetting haha. I talked a big game to get my colleagues to use Zotero over our other software and was immediately hit with this. Right back to manually fixing bibliographies. Good reference-management software is supposed to eliminate exactly this kind of tedious clerical work.
