Inconsistent corner radii across controls in Zotero Settings on macOS
Dear Zotero Development Team,
I would like to suggest a small visual-consistency improvement for the Zotero Settings interface on macOS.
At present, several controls appear to use noticeably different corner radii. For example:
- The selected item in the Settings sidebar is relatively square.
- The search field uses a larger corner radius.
- Buttons and dropdown controls use smaller, more traditional corner radii.
- These elements do not appear to follow a clearly unified radius hierarchy.
I am not suggesting that every component should use exactly the same radius. Different control types naturally require different treatments. However, defining a consistent corner-radius system—for example, related radius values for navigation selections, input fields, buttons, and larger panels—could make the Settings interface feel more cohesive.
Compared with the more modern visual language seen in applications such as Codex and Zen, the current mixture of radii makes parts of the Zotero Settings interface feel slightly fragmented. A modest adjustment could improve consistency without changing Zotero's overall identity or adopting another application's design wholesale.
Would the team consider reviewing the corner-radius tokens or CSS variables used across the Settings interface, particularly on macOS?
Thank you for developing and maintaining Zotero. It is an essential part of my academic workflow, and I greatly appreciate your work.
Best regards,
Da-Jian Zhang
