[Plugin] Nodus for Zotero – research sidebar + connected research workspace

Hi everyone, I’m the developer of Nodus, a free and open-source desktop workspace for research, teaching and study. I wanted to share its Zotero integration.

Nodus for Zotero adds a plugin to Zotero’s right sidebar. It can search across your PDF, EPUB and HTML attachments and answer questions with exact passages and page citations (clicking a citationn takes you back to the referenced page in the source)

It can work in two modes:

- Standalone:** configure an AI provider directly in the plugin (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, OpenRouter, Groq, Cerebras, DeepSeek, Ollama, LM Studio and others).
- Linked to Nodus Desktop: connect the plugin to the main Nodus app and use its models, providers (including your chatgpt subscription) and research context

The desktop app goes further and can use your Zotero collections as a research corpus. It can extract and connect ideas, perform semantic search, identify agreements and contradictions, build idea/argument graphs, detect research gaps, and generate Deep Research reports grounded in your Zotero sources.

If you already use Zotero, you can simply keep it as your reference manager and use Nodus as an additional analysis layer around your library.

The Zotero plugin can be installed and updated directly from the main Nodus app; once installed, it can also run in standalone mode.
