Available for beta testing: PDF Book Splitter

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for beta testers for Book Splitter, an independent plugin for Zotero 9. It is designed for edited volumes, collections, and long books. It can identify chapters from:

- existing PDF bookmarks;
- a local scan of the table-of-contents pages;
- optional AI-assisted recognition using a provider configured by the user.

Before anything is generated, the plugin displays the detected chapter titles, authors, and page ranges for review.

You can then:

- create independently citable Book Section items with separate chapter PDFs;
- place the extracted chapter PDFs under the original Book item;
- extract only selected chapters;
- rebuild native PDF bookmarks for files that do not have them.

The original Book item, notes, and complete PDF are preserved.

This is currently a small-scale beta. Recognition accuracy depends on the PDF layout and text quality, so please verify titles, authors, and page ranges before generating items.

Compatibility: Zotero 9
