Request: I don't ever want to import from Mendeley

The File > Import option in Zotero (which very helpfully has a keyboard shortcut) takes me to a modal that asks me if I want to import information from Mendeley. I've never ever wanted to import from Mendeley, but I import citations as a file all the time. Even if I did import from Mendeley, it'd probably be a one-off and not a repeated action.

I would like to suggest that the Import from Mendeley functionality be its own option (in File or elsewhere), and that hitting Import should take me straight to the file selection interface.

Thank you as ever for all your hard work on Zotero.

May I ask what files you import on a regular basis? If the format is RIS or Bibtex, a drag and drop from your file manager into Zotero would avoid that window altogether.

(of course your workflow might use different formats, I'm just suggesting this option because RIS and Bibtex are so commony used)
  • That's an entirely reasonable point. Dragging and dropping would be a good change to my workflow to circumvent this issue.

But, I think it would be good to change the UI too.
