Save Zotero settings state before plugin install

While I am (somewhat) patiently waiting for my library to finish syncing down from the online storage, I started thinking about ways to prevent getting into the same situation.

Is there a way to save the Zotero settings before installing a plugin, so that I can
(1) see what it changed
(2) make sure everything is rolled back when/if I uninstall it?

How do I know if a plugin is modifying the Zotero database rather than just reading it?
I know I could look at the source code, but I would probably have to dump all of it into ChatGPT or Claude and ask them...

I know I can make backups of the Zotero database, but if it contains corrupt data, or data causing issues, it will backup with it, and my metadata updates will be gone -- leaving me back with resyncing from the online library.
