403 Forbidden error

Hello Zotero team,

I'm experiencing a persistent 403 Forbidden error when trying to access https://www.zotero.org/ from Singapore.

Here are the details:

Location: Singapore
The issue occurs on:
Windows PC
Firefox, Chrome, and Edge
Mobile phone
Home Wi-Fi
Mobile data
Every page on zotero.org returns 403 Forbidden, including:
https://www.zotero.org/
https://www.zotero.org/download/
https://www.zotero.org/user/login
DNS resolution works correctly.
A curl -v https://www.zotero.org request returns:
HTTP/1.1 403 Forbidden
Server: awselb/2.0
X-Cache: Error from cloudfront
X-Amz-Cf-Pop: SIN2-P2

CloudFront request IDs observed:

L8dwgVgUK0HmSGSOdEwFhguLBlTWyntMdUCRpbXjDn9jZEQmmCTRsg==
Wpc8pUGUiUJScVn1QZs0xOnR_HFABqS56R9KnxAKAu-Yo4hZxDE6tg==

The failed requests occurred on 27 July 2026 at approximately 16:30 Singapore Time (UTC+8).

I also tested using a VPN connected to another country, and the issue disappeared immediately. Through the VPN I can access the Zotero website, log in successfully, and download Zotero normally.

Could you please check whether my normal traffic is being blocked by CloudFront or another security rule, and advise whether anything can be done to restore access without using a VPN?

Thank you very much for your help.
  • Sorry, there was a misconfiguration on our end that resulted in intermittent blocking from some regions. Fixed now.
