Possible data loss after Refresh in Zotero Google Docs integration

Dear Zotero Support,

I would like to report what appears to be a serious issue with the Zotero Google Docs integration that resulted in the loss of approximately two hours of work.

Here is what happened:

I was editing a Google Docs document stored in my personal Google account.
I was using Microsoft Edge with Zotero open during the entire editing session.
I inserted several new Zotero citations throughout the session.
All of the citations I inserted that day remained displayed as "[Updating]" and never finished updating, even after about two hours of work.
Older citations that were already present in the document continued to work normally.
I had only one browser window and one tab open with this Google Docs document. The document was not open on any other device.
Zotero did not display any error message or warning during the session.

After approximately two hours, I clicked Refresh in the Zotero Google Docs plugin, hoping it would complete the citation updates.

Instead, the document immediately reverted to an older version, and all of the text and edits I had made during the previous two hours disappeared.

I checked the Google Docs Version History, but none of those edits appear there. I also tried using Ctrl+Z immediately after the document reverted, but Undo had no effect.

I am wondering whether this is a known issue with the Google Docs integration, and whether there is any possibility of recovering the lost edits or determining what caused this behavior.

I can provide my Zotero version, Microsoft Edge version, a Debug ID, an Error Report ID, or any additional information that would help investigate the issue.
- Zotero version 9.0.6 (64-bits)
- edge version 149.0.4022.98 (64 bits)
- Report ID : 2103843104
- debug ID : D151849287

Thank you very much for your time and assistance.

Best regards,

Marie RC
