Feature Request: Navigation Arrows (Back/Forward) for Collections

edited today at 11:49am
Currently, navigating between different collections within the Zotero sidebar when organizing literature across multiple collections, users can find themselves switching back and forth between two specific collections by having to navigate through a hierarchy only to return to a previous location.

To improve workflow efficiency, it would be helpful to have **Back and Forward navigation buttons** (left and right arrows) in the sidebar interface.

Similar to the navigation buttons found in web browsers or file explorers, these controls would allow users to:
1. Quickly jump back to the last viewed collection without searching the sidebar hierarchy.
2. Move forward to the next collection in the history.

This feature would significantly enhance the user experience for those who frequently work with nested collections.

There was a plugin that used the left and right arrow keys for backward/forward navigation - see below. It worked well, but it was never updated beyond Zotero 5. The code is still there, so it could be a simple plugin project for anyone looking for one. As Zotero first got its PDF reader in v6, and the reader already has some backward functionality, a re-write would possibly just need to ignore the reader.
