Why did Copy (ctrl+c) stop working?

I am basically completely new to Zotero and LaTeX. I have spent most of today learning Zotero and BibTeX, so I may be just missing something obvious.

I've installed Zotmoov to manage linked attachments. I've installed Better BibTeX.

I have set the Quick Copy to "Better BibTeX Citation Key Quick Copy". So when I use Ctrl+Shift+C, a LaTeX formatted citation is copied to the clipboard.
While I was testing this, I was also able to press Ctrl+C and a LaTeX formatted reference list (.bib bibliography) was copied to clipboard. In other words, I could select one or more references, copy citations with Ctrl+Shift+C, paste it into the .tex document, and copy the references with Ctrl+C to paste into the .bib file.
This worked for maybe a few times, and then stopped working, and I'm 99% sure I changed nothing. Though I did also play around with the right-click > export, and right-click > Better BibTeX > copy...

While Ctrl+C does not work (and the option in the Edit menu is greyed out), the right-click > "Better BibTeX" > "copy BibLaTeX to clipboard" works just fine so it is not much of an issue.

But through my searches and documentation I have seen, I have not seen this basic "copy" explained. So what is it supposed to do and how might I replicate the functionality I had?

Side note, the wording and placement of these Quick Copy options confused me (especially the description of the shortcuts options), so it took me way too long to realise that the Quick Copy styles applies to both Ctrl-Shift-A ("Copy Citation") and Ctrl-Shift-C ("Copy Bibliography"). It also seems silly that the Better BibTex plugin style uses the copy bibliography shortcut for citations, and the copy citation shortcut for nothing.
  • For a report here, you'd need to restart in Troubleshooting Mode (Help → "Restart in Troubleshooting Mode…”), which temporarily disables all plugins, configure your Quick Copy settings as appropriate, and confirm that you can still reproduce the issue. Otherwise, you'd need to report it to the BBT developer.

The main Quick Copy shortcut is Cmd-Shift-C, not Cmd-C. Cmd-C would've been working within the reader to copy selected annotations, but not within the library tab.

(Cmd-Shift-C and Cmd-Shift-A are holdovers from when Zotero was a Firefox extension and Cmd-C wasn't available. In Zotero 10, we'll be making various changes here, including making Cmd-C the main Quick Copy shortcut everywhere and adding a separate shortcut for export formats.)

Cmd-Shift-C is the main Quick Copy shortcut, and (until we add a separate shortcut for export formats in Zotero 10) Quick Copy can be set to either a bibliography or an export format. The fact that BibTeX relates to citations is irrelevant — it's still just an export format.
