Android Beta: Buggy EPUB Paginated/Scrollable Switching

I'm new to the forums; sorry in advance if this isn't the format or level of detail usually used for bug reports.

I am using the Android Beta (v1.0.0-252) on a BOOX NoteAir3C running recent firmware (2026-05-19_20-09_4.2-rel_0519_c76f35ce8). When I open an EPUB in Zotero, I get the top menu bar (back, left sidebar toggle, annotate toggle, search, and appearance settings) and the text of the book filling the entire screen width (seemingly no margin bezels), and a small but empty footer area at the bottom. Opening the appearance settings indicates that I am using the defaults: Appearance -> Automatic, Spreads -> None, Page Layout -> Paginated. Except the text is not paginated; I can only scroll up and down in the reader to get text to move, and taps anywhere on the screen do not elicit a response. Incidentally, annotations do not render either.

After changing the appearance settings to Page Layout -> Scrolled, the reader jumps back to the beginning of the EPUB and remains scrollable, now with more natural text margins and annotations rendered. Switching back to Page Layout -> Paginated finally achieves the behavior I expected: paginated display, taps to page forward or backward, natural text margins, and rendered annotations.

Unfortunately, none of this is persistent. Closing the reader or the app and then reopening the EPUB results in a reader that does not respond to any user input (taps or scrolls) until the Page Layout setting is toggled back and forth again. In the process, it resets the reading location to the beginning of the EPUB.

Is anyone else on this version of the beta experiencing something similar?
