Hi team,

Because it appears that the Juris-M for Word add-on was killed by the most recent Windows update, I tried to import my Juris-M library into Zotero, but it only imported 16 of my Juris-M sources and indicated that there was an error. I reported the error and the Report ID is 1523179255. I also tried to drag-and-drop sources from the Juris-M to Zotero desktop apps without success. Any thoughts?

In the Zotero Windows desktop app, File => Import... => A file (BibTeX, RIS, Zotero RDF, etc.) and selected an RDF file that I had already saved by using the Export Library function in the Juris-M desktop app. I did not change the preselected options: "Place imported collections and items into new collection" and, under File Handling, "Copy files to the Zotero storage folder." I clicked on Next and got the following message: "An error occurred importing the selected file with "RDF". Please ensure that the file is valid and try again." When I then click on Finish, there are only 16 of my 77 Juris-M sources in Zotero. They appear to be the same 16 that were previously in Zotero when I last used it a few months ago before I switched to Juris-M. Retried a few times without success.

If you email the RDF file to support@zotero.org with a link to this thread, we can take a look, but an export from Jurism — which is based on a very old version of Zotero — might be broken in ways that can't be fixed.

The RDF file contains 'treaty' item types that Zotero doesn't know about, and those cause the import to fail. We've added a fix to import those as Document with "Type: treaty" in Extra. Your Zotero should auto-update within a few minutes, or you can update translators manually from the Advanced pane of the Zotero settings.

Hi! Given the loss of Juris-M functionality with word I am trying to work out similar solutions for a very large database of non-legal and legal sources, many of which are multi-lingual. My tests indicate that the non-english fields in Juris-M do not import at all. I have tried the new cite-not-english plugin, but it appears that all data would need to be manually re-entered. Is it possible that the cite-non-english fields can be set to align to the Juris-M alternative language fields, or are the systems so different that this is not possible?

@dstillman I’m confronted with similar issues when supporting our faculty and students migrating from Jurism to Zotero. If sync was enabled before, chances are high that all the data before Zotero’s new security measures were in place are in Zotero (extra field > mlz-sync structure). But if not, we need to migrate via CSL JSON as this seems to be the most complete and easily handleable format. But in this case, Jurism doesn’t export the mlz-sync data but directly exports the data as per CSL-M extensions. What would you recommend to do? Preprocess the exported file and reconstruct the mlz-sync object in Extra? Or directly write the extended fields in the Extra field? The CSL-M styles seem to happily pick up the latter: I added a Type: legal_commentary to the Extra field and formatted citations with a CSL-M style that got applied as expected.
