Upgrade StoragePaperZorro: AI-powered literature scout (PubMed / arXiv / bioRxiv) for Zotero
Hi all,
I'd like to share a new plugin I've been building: PaperZorro, an AI-powered literature scout that lives inside Zotero.
The idea: instead of manually running searches across databases and skimming abstracts, you build a query once and let a language model triage the results — then import only the relevant papers straight into a collection.
What it does:
Visual query builder: compose nested AND / OR / NOT groups with a point-and-click UI, or write a raw query string. The boolean query is generated and shown so you can verify it.
Multi-source search: PubMed, arXiv, and bioRxiv/medRxiv, with date-range and per-source result caps.
AI relevance filtering: each candidate paper is judged against your search intent and labelled YES/NO with a short reason. It runs locally via Ollama by default — no API keys, no paper data leaving your machine. Optional cloud providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini) are available in beta.
Review & one-click import: browse the AI verdicts with abstracts, check the papers you want, pick any collection/sub-collection, and import them as proper Zotero items.
Scheduled searches: save a query to run daily/weekly so new relevant papers land in your library automatically.

Feedback is always welcome! Still in very early stages, but looking forward to expand to other databases as well (currently it is mainly focused on med field)
