Zotero takes forever to refresh citations in Word

Hi there, we are using Zotero in large Word files (stored in a cloud to be able to collaborate). Unfortunately, Zotero takes forever in these files to refresh citations (using the plugin for Word), so much so that we are afraid it will crash in the end (our project deals with more than 2000 pages). What can we do to prevent this? Is track changes an issue? Is it the size of the document?

    Could you produce a Debug ID for a typical refresh?

    Generally both document size and track changes will reduce the speed at which Zotero can refresh a document. We recommend splitting big documents into chapter-documents, working on those separately, and merging at the end.
