Urgent request: travelling library like endnote

I found that I can't extract a travelling library from a Word document where someone else has inserted citations using Zotero and sync it to my own Zotero library. The only workaround is to ask them to export a separate Zotero file, but that file cannot be linked to the citations already inserted in the Word document. It's nowhere near as convenient as EndNote's travelling library feature.
