Importing Written Word Doc Citations to Zotero

So i have written my dissertation and i want to add my references to zotero because i need to update them to the new APA style. Supposedly i have been told i should be able to import them to my zotero library..but i cant seem to do it. I am not a fan of this program so far. Its suppose to be easy and after an hour i found out nothing.
  • What you propose is actually a rather difficult problem. You may have some luck copying your bibliography into the textbox at http://freecite.library.brown.edu/welcome , clicking "Parse!" and then clicking on the folder icon in the address bar of the page that loads.

Then all of the references will be in your Zotero library and you can re-enter the citations in the dissertation. This will necessarily be time-consuming.

If you are just converting from an older version of the APA style, you are better off carefully adjusting your existing citations than trying to redo all of your citations in Zotero.
  • also, the parsing on freecite will be OK, but not perfect - e.g. no dates post 2000 will import correctly - that's a limitation on their part, not on Zotero's part.
