Switching between profiles on a mac

Hi everyone, I've been reading up and watching vids on creating new profiles and having separate data directories. Can I ask if I've set up different director paths why Zotero is telling me it is going to wipe my library when I log in under a new profile? I want to save the records from a research project (currently stored in a collection) on my university one drive account while keeping the rest of my library on my hard drive and synced to Zotero cloud. How do I do this without losing my mind?!!!

    You'd only get that warning if you're not actually using a separate data directory for the other profile.

    Note totally sure what you mean here. If you mean linked files, that's OK, but you don't need a separate profile to have some files be linked. You can't store the data directory itself in a cloud storage folder.
