group class="container": what does that mean?

Hello all,
In the csl syntax summary, I read:
A group can also represent semantic document components, as in:

group class="container" prefix=". "
but I don't understand the function of this class="container". What is "semantic document components"?
I've found nothing on the forum.

    my understanding is that this is just a label for the group.
    I think it's part of Bruce's original concept for csl (a part that has so far not been used/implemented much) that sees groups and macros as "bricks" that can be used across styles efficiently.

    This feature of CSL was never supported by Zotero and has been removed from CSL 1.0.
