group class="container": what does that mean?

Hello all,
In the csl syntax summary, I read:
A group can also represent semantic document components, as in:

group class="container" prefix=". "
but I don't understand the function of this class="container". What is "semantic document components"?
I've found nothing on the forum.

Thanks.
  • my understanding is that this is just a label for the group.
I think it's part of Bruce's original concept for csl (a part that has so far not been used/implemented much) that sees groups and macros as "bricks" that can be used across styles efficiently.
  • This feature of CSL was never supported by Zotero and has been removed from CSL 1.0.
  • Indeed, I didn't find it in csl 1.0. Thanks for the clarifications!
