Fairly certain Zotero cannot. It's possible it could be done by a plugin, but doesn't seem very likely and there haven't been any other reports: 126146 is about a public group getting messed up by a human user. 130975 is about citations in Word getting corrupted, not about metadata in Zotero.
(I'm not sure what you mean by "imported using the Word plugin" -- that's not a thing.)
