Even more sync problems... Report ID: 690053951

Report ID: 690053951

Dear experts,

recently, I moved to a new university. The only difference between my "old" and "new" university is, that I sit behind a very, very strict proxy now (login required, all ports except 8080 closed etc). Since then, my Zotero behaves strange. It seems to sync properly, but produces the following error message:

[...]

sync.zotero.org : potentially vulnerable to CVE-2009-3555

[JavaScript Error: "Unexpected status code 0 caching authentication credentials in Zotero.Sync.Storage.Session.ZFS.getLastSyncTime()" {file: "chrome://zotero/content/xpcom/storage/zfs.js" line: 833}]

[JavaScript Error: "uncaught exception: A file sync error occurred. Please restart Firefox and try syncing again.

If you receive this message repeatedly, submit an error report and post the Report ID to a new thread in the Zotero Forums."]

www.zotero.org : potentially vulnerable to CVE-2009-3555

[...]

Another nice new "feature" is that when I use Zotero, Firefox freezes from time to time and has to be restarted by force to get things going again.

Any idea how to cure this problem?

  • The proxy (or something else on your computer/network) is likely interfering with the HEAD request Zotero needs to perform a file sync. You might want to talk to your network IT department.

    Metadata sync shouldn't be affected.
Firefox freezes from time to time and has to be restarted by force to get things going again.
If part of the sync is failing, there will be more and more that Zotero will try to do each time it tries to sync (if you're adding new data). It's unlikely that it's actually freezing—you may just be interrupting it before it finishes. Disable file sync (or disable auto-sync) until you resolve the above problem.
  • cheers! I'll try to sort that out.
