storage/payment issue

Hi,
I've had a Zotero account for many years and have been consistently paying USD20 per year for 2GB of storage. Suddenly I started getting an error that my storage is full so I upgraded to the USD60 plan (6GB) but following that it's still showing I have used 100% of my storage implying that I need the USD120 plan (unlimited storage). Has something changed at Zotero in the approach to storage/charging please? It seems strange that after so many years with no issues I would suddenly get an error and need to start paying so much more. Alternatively are there any tutorials available about how to check storage usage and tidy things up as a way of avoiding the need for the unlimited plan? Thanks in advance for any help you can give.
  • Going that quickly from 2 to 6 GB seems odd, but no, Zotero hasn't changed anything (except that images in notes are now possible and count against your storage quota, so if you use that a _lot_, that could matter).

If you have a computer with all files synced down, you can just use a storage analyzer for your operating system to identify large files in Zotero. This sounds like you might have downloaded some large files like videos, potentially by accident. (I vaguely recall a plugin for Zotero for this, but not sure if that actually/still exists).

You've been at your storage quota for years. You likely just hadn't noticed the warning icon. (You were at 2 GB of files in the online library five years ago.)
  • OK, thank you, oops! :)
