When I right click on the column headers to add a new column in my library using Desktop or Web version, I don't see ISBN as a choice. Is it not possible to add the ISBN column to the Library view?
Not possible, correct. What's the use case? -- I think the logic here is that a) it only exists for a couple of item types and b) it rarely makes sense to sort by it given the nature of ISBNs
I need to make changes to my library en masse and I'd like to order it by a predictable identifier, rather than something that can vary like title. I can obviously export to csv and then order it however I want, but that means that as I make changes to the library, I need to search for the book, make changes, then search for the next book.
Honestly, I am new to Zotero and was surprised to not see this option. Can't imagine it would be an impossible coding nut to crack. This is basic and typical database stuff. I see no "key" like identifier I can add as a column and sort by. Strange to me.
(Coding wise this would be trivial to add, but since Zotero has a _lot_ of fields between item types, it would make the list in the dropdown unmanageable to add all of them -- that's why a bunch of fields are missing).
