Google Docs can't add reference

I'm using linux Pop OS 24.04 Epoch 8 with Zotero 8.0.4 installed as a Flatpak. When I try to add a reference in Google Docs using Chrome (Version 145.0.7632.159 (Official Build) (64-bit)) I just get the window with the progress bar that eventually fails.

OK. I downloaded the client and the behavior is identical. HEre's the reference number: D1681272863 for the new debug output logging.

Please provide a Debug ID from Zotero, not the Zotero Connector.

I downloaded and installed chrome 146.0.7680.153 (Official Build) (64-bit) then restarted zotero and chrome and the behavior is unchanged.

Does it work in a new Chrome profile, or Firefox? Does it work if you disable other Chrome extensions?

These would all be too disruptive for my purposes, so I'll just quit trying to make it work at this point. Thanks for your help.
