Upgrade StorageFinal Year Project about Zotero?

Maybe it's a little pretentious to send a message like this one but I heard that if we do not dare anything, we do not obtain anything. I have some questions and especially a proposition to submit; a partnership in Zotero’s development.
I live in Belgium (my mother tongue is French, would you apologize for my English) and I am a student in library and information science. This is my last year of study and I have a Final Year Project to achieve in order to obtain my graduation. I was looking for a subject to develop in this project and I thought to Zotero.
After a test of your program, I found some small issues from a librarian's point of view. You should know that libraries have to apply some standards about cataloguing, indexing,… which could be a crucial improvement of your software.
I am not a data processing specialist or computer programmer, so I'm not able to estimate the time you devote to Zotero’s development. I don't know if you work on this program full-time, or either how long would it take to solve a problem or improve functionalities (e.g. if you are suggested the creation of a field, or the possibility of making research on several criteria and not a full text research, etc.). In the same way, I wonder if the multiple suggestions on your forum are either subject to a reflection / dialogue or if you decide directly to cure the raised problems. In short, when do you consider that a suggestion is interesting or not?
I was therefore wondering if it would be possible for us to work together. The objective for you would be the improvement of Zotero from a bibliotheconomic point of view, the recognition of your program through a broader and specific audience.
Because I think that Zotero will receive a warm welcome from here, I intent to make training course in my section to professors and students in order to promote this module.
As for myself, it would be an opportunity to achieve a study, and not only proving my abilities by doing so, but also taking part into the development of the program and bringing something new in Belgium.

We have in place ways for developers to get involved, but it sounds like you are more interested in making feature suggestions (unless I'm wrong). If you have suggestions the forums are the best place to post your ideas. As we note in our caveat above the "start a new discussion" text box, the Zotero team reads and considers everything that is posted here, although we may only respond to messages occasionally or after some thought or change to the code. But beyond the core team you will find here a community of users and interested parties that provide helpful advice (and perhaps debate) on new suggestions. We have moved countless of these suggestions into action items (tickets); others need to wait for a future version of the software to be decided upon; still others (such as CSL and translator requests) are part of a stream that helps us gage demand from a variety of fields and put out small fires (like when a translator stops working).
I should also point out that we have an advisory board that includes people from the bibliographic/library world. And at its heart Zotero follows or interacts with certain conventions and standards (Dublin Core, MODS, etc). But the short answer is that we would of course be happy to hear from you in this space or at the end of a year-long project.
