In text citation formatting

Hi,
First off, thanks for all the great work - Zotero keeps getting better and the latest update is no exception.
I am experiencing one issue with the Word plugin since the update to Zotero 8, for which I couldn't find a solution: adding a citation in the text does not keep the format of the paragraph (font style and size). It looks like if uses Word's default style (Calibri, 11). Any hint how I can fix that?
Apologies if this was discussed somewhere else on the forum or if this is an issue with Word and not Zotero.
Thanks!
  • Hi Dom,

I am experiencing the exact same issue! Unfortunately, I have not yet found a conclusive solution, but there is a workaround.

It seems to me that Zotero now uses the "standard" style of your Word file, instead of the formatting of the surrounding text.
What seems to work is if you change the font style and size of the document, write something. Select that (correctly formatted) text, and press alt+ctrl+shift+s. This will open a style manager. Now click the arrow next to "normal" and select "Update Normal to Match selection". Now the "normal" font style and size of your document is updated, and any future Zotero citations will use this style.

However, this needs to be done again for each new document, and doesn't really help if your document has several styles.

I still find it quite frustrating, and would like to see it go back to how to worked before the update (as that seems to be the root to me).

  • I'm new on Zotero and experienced the same problems!!! Maybe the update caused this?
