LO Writer crashes when interacting with Zotero extension

Zotero 8.0.3, no updates are pending
Installed using installer download from zotero download server to Linux Manjaro + XFCE
LibreOffice 25.2.7

Weeks ago the problem was observed for first time as myself handled on Writer master document level to insert bibliography to document. I have been convinced it is a problem inside Writer and probably its master document handling code. Today however I needed to add the bibliography test wise to sub-document open in dedicated Writer interactive session. Writer crashed upon my Zotero extension refresh for document with bibliography present. The rate of crashes is high.
For me the problem is that Writer documents recovery results in documents reopen but the Navigator side bar width nearly whole screen wide so I need manually resize Writer navigator side bar for every open document. At the current writing state it is no option to have only one or few documents open at the same time.
Unfortunately my Manjaro package management offers only Zotero as snap app or Zotero 7.0.30 Manjaro native package. Snap app is not acceptable because my Zotero library of references is stored on SMB-share mounted to /media/..... Snaps can't access this path. It will be costly to move the mount point to other spot in root file system.

I have been using Zotero 8 for a number of weeks (longer than 4). How well will zotero 7.0.30 handle my library of reference as for this situation?
  • I see the root cause may be in the way how myself installed Zotero extension to LO Writer. I followed for it the LO extensions dialog to accomplish this goal. This way I see that Zotero extension installed has the version 7.0.x. Which might correspond to Zotero 7.x, while the installed Zotero is 8.0.3. As next I will try be removal of current extension installation and install it from running Zotero, its Preferences Window. How do you think about this suspect and solution way?

    For Zotero installation, see https://www.zotero.org/support/installation

For LibreOffice, if you're running a sandboxed version as a flatpak, or snap, it may cause issues.

We cannot provide support for LibreOffice master and child documents, as even on LibreOffice's side that feature is barely supported. If you're having issues on standard LibreOffice documents, follow Troubleshooting Errors in Word Processor Documents.
