Endless sync

I did a successful initial sync last night of my ~915 Mb library, after deleting a collection that had many nested levels. The initial sync was very quick, probably under a minute. I did another sync this morning after adding one item to the collection - also quick and successful. After adding 13 (short) notes to this newly added item, I clicked the sync icon again. For the past two hours, the icon has been spinning and the status is "Getting updated data from sync server - last sync: 2 hours ago." Nothing has been changed on the server since the previous sync - that is, I haven't synced to the server from my other computer. I've checked my library on the website and the new data is definitely not there. I don't think the notes I've added are long enough to be causing a problem, and the whole collection is still under 1 Gb (which is what I'm subscribed for). Please let me know what I should do next.
