Beginner question — searching only for specific notes?

Hey all, I have what may be a fairly basic question I'd be very grateful for any help with.

I'm planning to rely quite heavily on "notes", and tags on those notes, to organize my information — quotes and other source material from specific books. I'm giving individual tags notes (e.g. a specific theme, or person), but when I search for a given tag, it gives me a list of all the books that contain notes with that tag, and includes the notes in said books in the list that don't have that tag (albeit with their names in a slightly greyer font).

The same goes when I search for a keyword within a note — it gives me a list of all the books that contain the keyword, and every note for each book, rather than purely a list of the notes that contain said keyword.

I've tried Advanced Search, and the "Include parent and child items of matching items" doesn't seem to make a difference to this whether or not it's selected.

I'm going to need to juggle dozens of books, with perhaps hundreds of notes per some books, so I can't afford to see a list of every single note in a book (across multiple books too) every time I'm searching for a specific keyword or tag.

Please let me know if Zotero has this functionality — thank you.
