Annotation text extraction bug on Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 (Android)
Hi everyone,
I am experiencing a specific issue with the Zotero app on my Samsung Galaxy Tab S10.
The Problem:
When I highlight text in a PDF, the visual highlight appears perfectly fine and accurate on the document. However, the resulting annotation (the extracted text in the sidebar) includes extra text from adjacent lines that I didn't select. It seems like the extraction engine is "grabbing" more text than what is visually highlighted, mixing lines from above or below the intended sentence.
Key Observations:
- Device: Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 (using S-Pen).
- Consistency: This happens even when I am very precise with the selection.
- Cross-platform comparison: The same PDF works perfectly when using Zotero on the web or the desktop version. The issue is exclusive to the Android tablet app.
- Visual vs. Data: The "yellow" highlight on the PDF is correct, but the "text note" generated in the annotations tab is cluttered with unwanted nearby text.
It feels like a coordinate mapping issue or a sensitivity problem with how the Android app calculates line height during the extraction process.
Is there any setting I can adjust to improve text selection precision, or is this a known bug with the current Android build on high-resolution Samsung tablets?
Thanks in advance for your help!
PD: The attached screenshot shows the visual highlight on the PDF (which is accurate and only covers the intended text) and the resulting annotation in the sidebar (which incorrectly includes extra text from the lines above/below)
