Barcode Scanning Issue on Mobile
Hello! I am trying to get barcode scanning working with my Zotero for Mobile app. My phone is running a fork of Android 14 offered by Murena for the Fairphone 4, which I think may be the underlying issue. If so, I will let them know. But I wanted to check here first and see if you knew of any obvious fix I could make in my settings that would clear this up.
I sent in a debug log: D1356630066
The steps to recreate are fairly straightforward.
1) I navigated to the collection folder where I wanted to save the item.
2) I clicked on the plus sign at the bottom of the screen to add a new item, and selected "Scan Barcode."
3) This opens a camera screen with a square box target marked in the center in "Google" colors. There is a message at the bottom of the screen saying "scanned by microG services on behalf of Zotero"
4) The ISBN barcode does not produce a reaction no matter where I place it relative to the target square. I checked the ISBN numbers themselves afterwards, because sometimes books do not appear in all catalogs, and most books I attempted to scan did successfully import when typing the ISBN. The volume I tried to scan in the debug log is the fifth Norton Critical Edition of Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë, ISBN 9780393284997.
5) After there is no reaction on the scanning screen, I close it with the X in the upper left corner. Then, a message pops up telling me that my system does not support barcode scanning.
Because I have successfully scanned barcodes and QR codes in other applications, I know my phone has the capability, but there's either a bug I should pursue with my OS maintainer, or hopefully something I can change in settings to enable Zotero to scan barcodes. I have other barcode scanning applications available if it's a question of designating a different app to provide scanning services.
I appreciate your time and assistance!
