Zotero 8: still no WYSIWYG italic button and no “Author (date)” citation

Appreciate all the development, however bitterly disappointed for 2 reasons: 1. No WYSIWYG italic button. Curious to know why what I would have thought is a basic tool has not been implemented yet, or is it impossible to do? Sure, there are plugins like Linter. 2, No “Author (date)” citation. Sure, I can suppress author and then type author by hand, but come on, it's 2026!

From Etiquette: "Different people use Zotero in different ways. Not everybody shares your priorities, sometimes you're the only person experiencing a particular problem, or maybe you just didn't discover the best way to perform a task."

What? What are you even referring to, and how does this possibly rise to the level of something you're "bitterly disappointed" about? If you're talking about the note editor, there are formatting buttons, including italics, in the Aa menu. You can also press Ctrl/Cmd-I, as in any rich-text editor. If you mean something else, you'd have to explain.
    No “Author (date)” citation
A better way to do this is being worked on. Doing it right is a lot more complicated than it seems.

I think this is for italics/rich text in item metadata.
