If I use Zotero storage are files also on my local computer?

Hi, I'm not sure how this works. My Zotero storage subscription is ending and I've decided not to renew it. Are the items in the storage also on my own computer, or do I need to download them to make sure I don't lose anything? If so, how do I do that?

Thanks for your help. It's not as obvious to me as I thought it would be.
