Zotero on Boox failing to render pages in PDF viewer (refresh symbol)

I have been using Zotero as my new file cloud and PDF reader recently. I typically upload files on my Windows laptop and then read on my Boox Airnote 5c. I have encountered a few issues on my Boox (some surrounding downloading files), but one has been particularly obstructive.

Consistently across all files (including articles, which are small file sizes), Zotero's inbuilt PDF reader will go from showing pages correctly to instead rendering a blank page with a refresh symbol in its centre. This can happen at any time, but is often brought on by scrolling through a file quickly. When it happens, all subsequent pages will display as blank with the symbol also. There seems to be no fix except ending Zotero as a process and reopening the program. Whilst this is a workable solution for some files (such as articles), larger files (such as books) seem to fail more commonly, and I can end up having to kill Zotero and reopen it every few pages.

One thing I am unsure on is whether this is a Zotero error symbol (the refresh symbol) or a Boox error symbol: it is unclear. A full refresh of the Boox screen doesn't seem to fix it, so I am guessing it is Zotero, but I cannot say for sure.

I should also say that this issue does not occur when reading on my Windows laptop.

A secondary issue I have found is that Zotero will freeze on my Boox device when I try to annotate larger files (such as a 12mb book I am reading at the moment). I can provide more details on this if desired.
