Auto-rename PDFs in Zotero with WebDAV storage?
Hi,
I am currently using Zotero with an external WebDAV sync. Before this, I was a Mendeley user, and I imported my previous library into Zotero. However, after the import, I noticed that many of the PDF files have random names that don't always reflect their content, even though in my Mendeley folder, all files were properly named.
I would like to know if there's a way to automatically rename all my files according to the naming format set in the Zotero settings. It seems this feature is only available when using Zotero’s standard storage, but I could be mistaken.
Thank you in advance for your help!

Upgrade Storage
Zotero automatically renames new files you save to it based on parent item metadata, but for Mendeley imports, it will import PDFs from Mendeley with the filenames Mendeley provides. If you were using Mendeley Desktop (rather than Mendeley Reference Manager), you might have had files stored outside the data folder with different filenames, but Mendeley Desktop wouldn't sync those to Mendeley servers, and their database encryption prevents us from doing a direct import.
In Zotero 7, you can right-click one or more attachments and choose Rename File from Parent Metadata, but if you have a lot of these, I'd recommend installing the Zotero 8 beta, which supports continuous renaming and will let you rename files en masse from the settings.
