Style request: Journal of Tropical Ecology

Hi,

I am very new to using Zotero and would like to request for a citation style for the Journal of tropical ecology. format for citation and bibliography is as follows:

References to literature in the text should conform to the 'name-and-date' system: e.g. Fleming (1982); (Goh & Sasekumar 1980); Montgomery et al. (1981). If a number of references are cited at one place in the text, they should be arranged alphabetically and not chronologically. In the reference list citations should take the forms given below. References with two or more authors should be arranged first alphabetically then chronologically. The names of cited journals should be given in full. Certain foreign language citations may be translated into English, and this should always be done where the English alphabet is not used (e.g. Chinese, Russian, Thai).

It would be great if this style was available on the repository
Thanks,
Geetha

  • Hi,
Thanks for the link. the citation style and bibliography of J of Tropical Ecology is very similar to the Ecology citation style in the Zotero style repository with the following exceptions:

    General:
    1) '&' instead of 'and' in citations and bibliography

    Citations:
    1) 'et al.' should be italicized

    Bibliography:
    General -
    1) Author names in bibliography should all be uppercase
    2) All author names should be in the 'Kunz,T.H.' format and not 'T.H. Kunz'
    3) The names of journals and books should be italicized

    For books -
    1) 'Pp' instead of 'Pages'
    2) (ed.) instead of ',editors'
    3) editor names as - Kunz,T.H. instead of T.H. Kunz
    3) "Pp xx-xx in..." - here 'in' should not be italicized
    4) (xx edition) instead of ',xx edition'
    5) total number of pages in the book should appear at the end as 'xxx pp.'

    two examples:
FLEMING, T. H. 1982. Foraging strategies of plant-visiting bats. Pp. 287-325 in Kunz, T. H. (ed.). Ecology of bats. Plenum Press, New York. 425 pp.
WHITMORE, T. C. 1984. Tropical rain forests of the Far East (2nd edition). Oxford University Press, Oxford. 352 pp.

    Hope this is better
    Thanks again,
    Geetha
  • Sorry, I forgot to add that in the citations, authors should appear in alphabetical order and not chronological order.
  • not forgotten, but at least I might take a while before I get to this - but it's bookmarked.
  • OK - I've added the style. Should show up in the repository shorty,
if you're in a rush you can download and install it from here using "save as.."
    https://www.zotero.org/trac/export/6099/csl/journal-of-tropical-ecology.csl
and install by dragging to any open Firefox window.

et. al. in italics isn't currently possible, it will be shortly. The rest should work.
  • Hi,

looks like I forgot to thank you for uploading the file last year!
    Thank you so much!
