Is the Finding Full Text not available from online Web version? Searching Full Text Content broken?

Hello,

I'm starting my quick test of Zotero online by adding a simple PDF text file that has body of text that is searchable. However from the Zotero online after adding a simple test PDF file, i am not able to search the PDF body of texts. But opening it up, i can search.

Is full text searching only available from Zotero desktop application version?

What does the searching Full Text Content actually referring to by the online version?

Is the PDF files in online actually indexing for full text search?

Currently, only the desktop app extracts full text from PDFs. It will then sync that full text, which will let you use the Full-Text Content search in the web library and on other devices where you may or may not have the file (e.g., if you're using "as needed" file-download mode).

We plan to add server-side full-text extraction at some point, but it might not happen for a while. (Generally, you should be aware that the desktop app has much more functionality than the web library.)

Okay, thank you for that information. And yes, i have confirmed that by using the desktop app first to sync full text searchable index to cloud, the web library can now do "full text content" searching of the PDF files right from my library online. For the "other" machines however after the sync i had to first manually index the "unindexed items". Afterwards the other machine's desktop app is able to search in "Everything" for the words/keywords.

The iOS app of Zotero, however, as the other devices to my library in cloud, i'm not able to do full text content search from the iOS app. Maybe the mobile app currently does not support search everything by sync of full text. Is that the case? Screenshots from the iOS app below.

It indexes the synced content automatically when the computer is idle. The synced full text won't be searchable immediately. We have some planned changes in the coming months that may speed this up.

That's correct — it currently does not.
