Creating a parent item from .pdf

I can create a parent item from a linked file, if metadata for this file can not be retrieved. Such files are e.g. .djvu. It is pretty useful.

If I have linked a .pdf, I get in my menu only "Retrieve metadata" point, but many pdfs do not provide any.

So, it would be practical to have two possibilities: to retrieve metadata and to create a parent item for every file (or if the retrieving crashed).

It has long been planned to automatically attach the pdf to an empty item if retrieve metadata fails - I'd expect that to happen soon-ish
