Copying bibliography to clipboard only works inside Zotero [Debian, Wayland]

I'm clicking Create Bibliography from Item -> Copy to Clipboard
The resulting text is copied to clipboard, but I can't paste it anywhere outside Zotero, just the app itself. As a workaround, I can paste the copied text to some text field in Zotero, and then just copy it from there as usual (Ctrl+V -> Ctrl+A -> Ctrl+X).
I'm using Debian Trixie with Wayland
  • It may be related to some Wayland incompatibilities, I guess..
I wonder if someone encountered this problem.
To clarify, copying anything out of Zotero to other apps works fine.
The only issue is the builtin feature that allows to export bibliography to clipboard.
  • You've probably installed Zotero as a flatpak. That is not recommended and you should use one of the official ways to install https://www.zotero.org/support/installation
  • @asqres You should make sure that all other versions of Zotero that you have installed via snap and flatpak are completely removed. Then, tell us how you launch Zotero. Both this issue, and the issue in the other thread are consistent with having Zotero installed with Flatpak/Snap.
  • I am running Zotero 8.0.3 from zotero-deb on Ubuntu 24.04 (Wayland), and I also have this clipboard issue. I found that copying a bibliography to clipboard works when I perform the action a second time, but not the first time. So it doesn’t seem to be impossible, but there seems to be some bug preventing the clipboard from being populated on the first try.
