libreoffice citation dialog behavior changed

With Zotero 7.0.30 and Libreoffice 7.3.7.2 (and using reference marks) under Pop!_OS 22.04, the behavior was that I would click on the Add/Edit Citation button, the citation dialog would appear, I would select the desired citation, it would be added to the dialog, and then I could keep adding citations until I was done, at which point I would press Return and the dialog would close and the citation would be finalized. With Zotero 7.0.30 and Libreoffice 24.2.7.2 (and using reference marks) under Pop!_OS 24.04, after adding a citation, the citation dialog closes. I have to then click the Add/Edit Citation button to open the dialog again in order to add another citation or to finalize it by pressing return. This new behavior means having to click the button a lot more. Is this a bug? If this is a feature, could it be reverted back to the original behavior? This new behavior is irritating and slows down my work flow. Otherwise I appreciate the continuing improvements to Zotero!
  • I’d guess that you’re just double-clicking an item by mistake rather than single-clicking, causing the dialog to go behind your other windows.
  • No, just single-clicking. I do see now that the dialog was disappearing behind the document window. So I guess my request now is that the focus remain on the citation dialog so that one can either continue to select new citations or press return to conclude, rather than having to click back to the dialog window every time, and to avoid confusing folks. Thanks for the clarification!
  • The dialog certainly still works that way, so this is likely some sort of problem with your system configuration. If you can't figure out, you can switch to the Zotero 8 beta, which has a completely new citation dialog.
  • Good to know! I'll post this as a Pop!_OS Cosmic bug then, since this was a clean install of their new 24.04 release.
