Local library linked to deleted account — How to switch it without deleting local data?

Hello,
I’m looking for advice on how to safely re-associate an existing local Zotero library with a new account without losing local data.

My situation:

OS: Windows
Zotero version: Zotero 7

I have a local Zotero library with all my references and attachments.
This local library was previously synced with an account that no longer exists (the account was deleted and is inaccessible).

I am trying to connect the same local library to a new Zotero account.
When I enter the credentials for the new account, Zotero shows a warning that the local database was previously associated with a different account and offers only the following options:
- Cancel
- “Switch account” — but this option becomes clickable only if I check a box saying “Delete existing data”
It seems that checking this box would delete the local library, which I want to avoid.

My question:
What is the recommended and safe way to detach a local library from a deleted/unavailable account and then associate it with a new account without deleting local data?

Thank you very much for your help.

Email support@zotero.org and we can undelete the original account. You'll need to delete this account first.
