Word not communicating with Zotero - unable to cite references into word document

Hello Zotero Support,

Please, I really don't understand what's happening. I signed up to use Zotero to complete my thesis, and I am running behind schedule to submit. I wanted to use Zotero this evening and noticed it wouldn't insert references into my Word document. I tried several times, but it still didn't work. I decided to log out completely from the system and then tried to log back in. However, it refused my login. I used my university email address, which I used to sign up, and also the username with an underscore, which I used to create the account. Instead, it keeps taking me through endless verification processes to confirm that I am human. Asking me to match animals and objects with arrows to face the same direction. Please, I am absolutely getting frustrated with this. I have gone through the steps you listed to resolve my problem but it still wouldn't work. I have switched off my laptop and logged back on again and nothing is happening. Rather, it's showing me a message on the screen which reads- "Word could not communicate with Zotero. Please ensure Zotero is running and try again. If this problem persists, see https://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_troubleshooting

I have almost 150 papers/materials on my library and needs to use Zotero to add citation and generate references...

  • I don't think any of the log-in issues should be relevant (also doesn't sound like they're coming from Zotero, but hard to say).

    The "If this problem persists" link provides specific troubleshooting steps. We'd need to know what you've actually done and with what results -- just stating that you've 'gone through the steps' isn't sufficient.
  • I was using Word to write and had wanted to use Zotero to cite a reference. It displays an error message." word could not communicate with zotero. Please ensure zotero running and try again. If this problem persist, see https:// zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_troubleshooting.
  • I understand -- and that link takes you to steps to take to try to fix that issue, so please run through those. In all likelihood they'll fix things for you.
