Issues with opening Zotero for the first time on MacBook Air

I can't get a hold of a Report ID, since I cannot even open the app yet.

1. So, I'm trying to install Zotero on my MacBook, but after opening the app, it just says this:

Zotero-tietokantaa ei voi avata.

Varmista että sinulla on luku- ja kirjoitusoikeudet Zotero-datahakemistoon ja tietoturvaohjelma ei estä Zoterolta pääsyä hakemistoon.

Datahakemisto: /Users/ainom/Zotero

Essentially that I have to check if I have the permission to use the library/folder and that a security program is not blocking access to it. I changed laptops from Windows to MacBook, and could use Zotero normally on the Windows-laptop.

2. After copy pasting this into the terminal: /Applications/Zotero.app/Contents/MacOS/zotero -ZoteroDebug
it answers this:

JavaScript error: chrome://zotero/content/xpcom/db.js, line 705: Error: Error(s) encountered during statement execution: attempt to write a readonly database [QUERY: REPLACE INTO settings VALUES ('db', 'integrityCheck', 1)] [PARAMS: ] [ERROR: attempt to write a readonly database]

I'm not understanding what the problem is, since I don't think I even have a separate security program on this device.
  • You'll need to fix permissions on that folder (if it exists) or the home folder (if it doesn't) using File → Get Info in Finder so that your user account can read and write to it and all files within it.

This can happen when you transfer any data from another computer, and it isn't in any way a problem in Zotero itself.
