Request to add option to restore title bar
Hello,
I've seen this issue discussed in another thread but was unsure if it was best to make a new one here or post in that thread, as this is a direct request for a feature. Sorry if that was the wrong decision! To preface this, I'm using Zotero 7.0.27 (64-bit) on Windows 10.
In Zotero 6 I found the title bar at the top of the screen when viewing papers which listed the full title, author, year etc to be extremely useful. I could at a glance know exactly what I'm reading which streamlined my workflow and was a really appreciated feature for me. Unfortunately, despite the many improvements to Zotero 7, the removal of the title bar has been a source of frustration and has made it more difficult to carry out my research. While I understand that this may be the direction many other apps are going, and that I can still get the information by hovering over the tab or opening the context pane, I wish there was a way to bring the title bar back so I could have the information available at all times without any extra steps, and without having to take up a large portion of the screen with the context pane (which also provides a lot of unnecessary information). When working with many similar papers, having that information easily available was invaluable to me.
I'm unsure if there are any plans to bring this back as an option (i.e. default to no title bar, but provide the choice for users to enable it if they wish), but would like to voice my support for implementing such a change in any case, as it would vastly improve my experience using Zotero.
In the meantime, are there any possible workarounds I could use to get a similar functionality (other than reverting to Zotero 6, which I'm hesitant to do)? Any advice is greatly appreciated, thanks very much in advance!
Cheers,
Josh
