Upgrade StorageExisting Text Annotations Not Importing/Visible in Scanned Linked PDF
Hi Zotero Team,
I am facing an issue importing existing annotations into the Zotero PDF Reader and need assistance troubleshooting.
My Setup:
OS: Windows 10/11
Zotero Version: 7
File Storage: I am using the "Linked Attachment Base Directory" feature. The file is not stored in Zotero; it is a linked attachment pointing to a local directory.
The Document:
The file is a technical manual (scanned PDF, image-based, potentially no text layer). I have sent an email to support@zotero.org with a link to this thread and a copy of the file.
The file contains existing text comments/sticky notes created in Adobe Acrobat.
I can see these comments when opening the file in Adobe/external viewers.
The Problem: Within Zotero library, it doesn't see these annotations. When I initially used "Add link to file" it also only added the hyperlink and did not create a parent item.
I have done the following
Manually created a Parent Item (Report type).
Nested the linked PDF under the parent item.
Question: Is there a limitation on importing annotations from scanned/image-only PDFs for Linked Files?
