How to ensure conistency with quotation marks?

I'm trying to find a way to ensure consistency in how I store titles that have elements in quotation marks, such that they get properly converted for different styles. It seems that Zotero expects titles to be stored with straight quotation marks to then automatically convert them into proper typographic single or double quotes depending on the style (it doesn't seem to matter if they are stored as double or single quotation marks as long as they are straight marks – typographic marks are left as is).

Now I'm wondering if there is an automated way to make sure that they are properly stored after import. Especially because given the interface font (I'm on macOS) it's so hard to visually distinguish between straight and typographic marks, so I always miss one or the other entry. I do have a Saved Search searching for any items with typographic marks. But it would be great to convert them right when importing – or at least get a prompt warning me that there are typographic marks. I do have the Linter plugin installed, but even that doesn't seem to have an option to deal with quotation marks.

Has anyone perhaps found a solution?
