Accidentally clicked “Purge Storage” — attachments now missing in Web Library and mobile app

Hi everyone,

I accidentally clicked “Purge Storage in My Library” on zotero.org, and now many items in my Web Library only show that an attachment exists, but the attachment file cannot be opened or downloaded. On the mobile app, these files also fail to download.

Is there any way to recover these attachments?

I tried re-syncing from my local Zotero desktop client, but the missing attachments were not re-uploaded to Zotero Storage. They still do not appear in the Web Library, and the mobile app cannot download them either.

Does this mean that the attachments were permanently deleted by the “Purge Storage” action?
Is there any way to recover them if they still exist locally, or are they completely gone from the server?
